Cornwall Photographic Alliance
Annual Competition Rules


1. The Competition shall be open to affiliated clubs and societies. Each club or society shall submit a portfolio comprising 15 Prints and 15 digital images.


2. There shall not be more than 3 Prints and or 3 digital images entered by any individual club member in the club's portfolio.


3. Members of more than one club may only represent one club.


4. In all cases the original image(s) must have been taken using a photographic process and be the sole copyright of the entrant. Any modification of the original image must be made by the photographer or under his/her personal direction. The use of clip art, downloaded textures, frames created by photo editing software, or elements from any other photographer’s image is not permitted. If persons and/or property are included within an image, the photographer accepts the responsibility that any necessary permission has been obtained for usage. The Cornwall Photographic Alliance assumes no liability for any breach of copyright by the entrant.


5. The Cornwall Photographic Alliance reserves the right to reproduce the images for publicity. Reproduction will be without payment and copyright remains with the photographer. Every possible care will be taken with entries but the organisers cannot accept liability for loss or damage to work submitted.


6. All digital image files must be titled as described in the annual competition digital image entry rules.


7. All Prints must be titled as described in the annual competition entry rules.


DIGITAL IMAGES


8. The 15 digital Images with prefix will begin with a unique sort code followed by the image title, the photographers name and the name of the camera club submitting the images.


9. The image must be a maximum of 1600 pixels wide and 1200 pixels high, including any border.


10. The files must be in jpeg format.


PRINTS


11. 15 prints: size of the mount must be 500mm x 400mm. The entry can be presented in landscape or portrait format


12. On the reverse of the print in the top right hand corner, please write on a white label in block capitals the unique sort code followed by the image name, author and club name.


A unique coded spreadsheet for each club will be supplied.


13. Members may not enter a digital image or print of the same or substantially similar content to any image previously entered by them into the CPA Annual Competition


14. Trophies and prizes shall be awarded based on the judging of three independent judges.


15. The elected Officers shall deal with any disputes. A representative from protesting and defending clubs should be present to witness any enquiry.


AWARDS

The Geoff Marshall Cup will be awarded to the photographer of the best digital image.

The Abid Shah Cup will be awarded to the photographer of the best colour print.

The Alliance Cup will be awarded to the photographer of the best monochrome print.

The Presidents Cup will be awarded to the photographer of the best creative digital image or print.

The Ray Holland Cup will be awarded to the club with the highest total of marks in the digital image section.

The Ken Farnell Memorial Cup will be awarded to the club with the highest total marks in the print section.

The Len Collings Trophy will be awarded for the best image – digital or print, selected by the judges.

The Malcolm Jenkin Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the best Portrait image – digital or print, selected by the judges.

There will be certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd awarded to entries in both the print and digital image sections.

Certificates will be presented for all highly commended digital images and prints.
